The US Army's Sapper Leader's Course is a beast. Considered one of the most difficult leaders schools in the Army, graduates of Sapper School are considered masters in the basics of combat patrols, combat demolitions, and mountaineering.
If you are planning to attend Sapper School, we've got you covered! On our website, you can find resources that will help you pass. The resources we provide were used for several years at the United States Military Academy to help Cadets prepare for Sapper School. During its use, the Cadets had an astonishing pass/tab rate of 70%, which is nearly unheard of! The average pass rate at the Sapper Leaders Course is around 40%.
The trick to preparing for Sapper School is knowing what to focus on. One great thing about the Sapper Leaders Course is that the instructor will teach you EXACTLY how they expect you to do most things. It's honestly better to not study certain things so that you go into Sapper School with a fresh slate and you can absorb the way they teach you. However, there are three things that you want to master before you attend.
The first is Knots. The Knots test at Sapper School is notorious, and one of the most difficult parts, mostly due to the time suck. You have to put in considerable study hours to pass, hours that you don't have while at school. Fortunately, you can master them before you attend, saving yourself a lot of stress.

The second is Demolitions. As an Engineer Soldier, you should be familiar with how to conduct demolition operations, and you can't really practice it before you attend unless your unit does some demo ranges. However, you do need to be very familiar with how to conduct demolition calculations. Like knots, this is something you can master before attending!

The third is basic Patrolling. At the Sapper Leaders Course, they will teach you exactly how they want you to do specific operations, like the Ambush and Raid. However, you MUST have a very strong foundation in basic patrolling before attending, so that you aren't overwhelmed with all of the new principles they teach you.
